Faculty and Staff Writers’ Retreat - June 2021
The Writing Center, The Krupp Library and The Office of Faculty Development and Innovation are sponsoring Bryant’s semi-annual Faculty and Staff Writers’ Retreat. The retreat is open to any faculty or staff member working on a writing project.
During the retreat’s lunch session on June 8, a roundtable panel focused on surviving and thriving in research and publication at Bryant will speak to the needs and questions of tenure-track junior faculty as they launch their summer projects. All interested attendees are invited to participate in this optional session. Instructors and faculty not attending the retreat are also invited to attend this session via Zoom; Zoom link and further details will be communicated widely closer to the event.
Space at the Writers’ Retreat is limited and priority will be given to tenure-track faculty. We expect an enthusiastic response to this event, so please register early. Register here!
I just wanted to express my appreciation for the retreat. It was super-duper helpful to have the structure and support of experts. The retreat enabled me to submit my manuscript for publication!
“My goal was to work on my TEDx talk … and I feel really good about that whole experience! Going forward, I continue to want time set aside for creative writing – blogs in particular. Thanks so much for the support and feedback during these retreats!”
“I would not have been able to complete this article with such efficiency without the ‘research jump-start’ provided by the Writer’s Retreat. The venue, support, and shared productive energy provided by the Retreat are invaluable.”
“It not only enhanced my writing but also created moments of collaboration between other faculty and myself. Those moments of collaboration are typically difficult to attain in our busy schedules. But the retreat proved an important moment for us to share ideas and come up with solutions.”
“I just love these retreats. I am generally a highly-focused, and disciplined individual but attending the retreats just takes that up a notch.”
“The writing retreat in January gives me a kick-start for the year. It truly helps to finish some lingering things, to structure the next steps for other projects, and to make some headway on new materials. I find the writing retreat to be something I look forward to every semester - when I have conflicts, I am disappointed and do my best to try to (admittedly imperfectly) reproduce the writing retreat.”
