Supporting Academic Integrity

On This Page:

Explore CTE-supported tools for supporting academic integrity:

  • Turnitin: creates Similarity Reports that compare student submissions against a vast repository of submitted papers, assignments, published journals and articles, and internet content.
  • Respondus LockDown Browser: a secure browser application that restricts students' ability to navigate away from their Canvas New Quiz. LockDown Browser must be used with a Canvas New Quiz

Turnitin Feedback Studio

Turnitin Feedback Studio is integrated within Canvas and serves as an originality checker, designed to provide instructors and students with a detailed similarity report that compares student work against a vast repository of academic and non-academic sources.

To use Turnitin, you must first create a Turnitin-enabled Assignment. Access the adjacent resources for detailed instructions on using Turnitin within Canvas.

Turnitin AI Checker

As of 2022, Turnitin Similarity Reports now include an AI Writing Indicator. The CTE has partnered with Temple University to provide a resource on effective communication with students about AI use and to guide critical evaluation of AI detection systems. This resource includes information on how to access the AI Writing Indicator.

Respondus LockDown Browser

Respondus LockDown Browser is a secure browser that restricts students’ ability to navigate away from their Canvas New Quiz, thereby promoting a focused and controlled testing environment within Canvas. The browser prevents students from opening other applications or accessing outside resources during an exam, supporting academic integrity.

LockDown Browser is for use with Canvas New Quizzes only.
