Overview
Canvas is a web-based learning management system (LMS) developed by Instructure. Canvas allows faculty to streamline the delivery and organization of course materials, create assignments and quizzes, and allow for real-time student collaboration. Canvas offers a fully accessible, user-friendly interface, and has been designed for intuitive navigation by both students and faculty.

Enrollment into Academic Canvas Course Sites
Academic Canvas course sites are defined as those connected to the Student Information System (SIS). Enrollment of both Teachers and Students is managed by an automatic feed connected to the SIS. Academic Canvas course sites are also generated by the same feed. The CTE will never add Teachers and/or Students to these course sites.
Sharing Canvas Materials
In circumstances where faculty wish to share Canvas resources (Modules, Pages, Assignments, Files, etc.) with other faculty, the CTE can create a Sandbox course site. The faculty who owns the original material will be made a Coordinator of that course site, allowing them to manage adding or removing users and content as they deem fit. The CTE must receive written permission from the original faculty (or Department Chair or Dean) before creating a Sandbox.
Editing Course Content
To protect the academic record of a course, the CTE will never create, edit, or remove content in an Academic Canvas course site. The CTE may be required to access course sites for troubleshooting purposes. The CTE provides 1:1 consultations, training, and documentation to faculty on best practices for optimizing their Canvas course sites for learning.
Third Party Publisher Integrations
The CTE does not support publisher integrations. Faculty should work directly with their publisher representative.
Faculty Canvas Essentials
This asynchronous course has been designed to teach faculty the essentials of using Canvas. This course will you guide you through core Canvas functions such as modules, assignments, quizzes, and the grade center.
