All members of the Bryant Community have secured and supported access to BryantGPT, an AI-powered chatbot developed in collaboration with alliantDigital. Bryant GPT runs on Claude. For more information, access the BryantGPT page on the Information Services (IS) website.

Tips for Using Generative AI in the Classroom

Demo appropriate use in class

Your students look to you for guidance on how to use AI appropriately and safely. When presenting, bring up one of the Bryant-supported tools (Copilot, BryantGPT, and Gemini), and demonstrate how to interact with the tools. This is also a helpful way to demonstrate discovery learning techniques. 


Provide pre-created prompts

One way to ensure students are using AI productively and safely, is to provide pre-created prompts that they can copy + paste.  Doing so allows you more control over student-AI use, as well as showcases effective and (sometimes novel) uses of Generative AI. 


Start with learning outcomes

What types of cognitive processes, knowledge construction, behaviors, etc. do you want your students to demonstrate and showcase? When determining when and how to use Generative AI in pedagogical contexts, starting with your outcomes will help guide you on identifying the places where AI can enhance learning.


Go Beyond Google

Many AI users default to using it as a search engine, simply generating content based on questions. Instead, think about ways that AI can scale previously hard to access experiences, such as taking on the role of tutors, coaches, peers, and teammates.
