Scholarship of Teaching and Learning (SoTL) Scholars

What is the Scholarship of Teaching and Learning (SoTL)?

Instructors engaging in SoTL typically begin with a question about teaching or student learning. They gather evidence from their courses in a scholarly manner and share their findings so others can learn from their experiences.

By reflecting meaningfully on their own teaching, instructors deepen their own practice while also contributing to broader conversations about how students learn.

Who are the SoTL Scholars?

SoTL Scholars are faculty who have a presentation or paper that is SoTL-based, and are interested in receiving a stipend to support conference participation (limits apply).

What are the responsibilities of the SoTL Scholars?

In return for funding, the SoTL scholar submits the following to the Center for Teaching Excellence (CTE) director:

  • Notification of conference acceptance
  • SoTL artifact (paper or presentation)

Additionally the SoTL scholar will arrange to give an additional presentation to the Bryant community on their SoTL work.

Application Process

The SoTL Scholars program runs on a rolling basis. Application information will be disseminated via an email. For more information contact the Center for Teaching Excellence (CTE).
