The Data Visualization Lab Opens

Students in Ryan Marnane's Introduction to Literary Studies (LCS 121) use Google cardboard and HP VR Headsets to explore 360 degree immersive video. Concluding their unit on narrative journalism, Marnane’s LCS 121 class explore how various mediums such as print, web, podcast, and virtual reality impacts audience’s experience and understanding of information in narrative form, culminating with a series of virtual reality narratives from the New York Times.

Located in Bello 101, the Data Visualization Lab was made possible through a grant of equipment from HP as part of the Educause-HP Campus of the Future initiative. The Lab  houses Virtual Reality (VR) workstations and headsets, and a large array of wall mounted digital displays. For more information on the lab see
