A reminder that the Inclusive Classroom Initiative is underway, with a number of events scheduled for November. Please see details and registration here.  We are also organizing a book group to read “But I’m Not Racist…” by Kathy Obear who will be our keynote speaker on November 13th. Please contact Ed Kairiss (ekairiss@bryant.edu) if you would like to join.

The Curated Class Feedback Program is also happening now. Email us if you would like to arrange a session in your class.

The Data Visualization Lab is open for exploration, with technologies for practicing public speaking, studying human anatomy and chemical structures, and exploring 360 degree video. Recently installed Data Visualization Software from Virtualitics and 3Data enables immersive exploration of large datasets. We expect to announce open lab hours shortly, but in the interim please email us at ofdi@bryant.edu to schedule a visit or consultation.

Save the date: The October 30th TEA Talk is titled “A Conversation with NAO the Robot” and features a discussion on a multidisciplinary research project at Bryant that explores the use of robot assistants in multi-criteria decision-making (MCDM). It will include a demonstration where NAO the robot will hold a conversation with a human and assist in forming a portfolio of mutual funds. Visit the program page for details.

The Harvard BOK Center is again offering its Higher Education Teaching Certificate. This fully online, asynchronous course runs for 8 weeks starting on November 6th and is an excellent opportunity for continuous development of teaching practice.  Contact Ed Kairiss (ekairiss@bryant.edu) if you are interested in participating.

Finally, the Fall Teaching Forum is planned for Wednesday, December 4th. We welcome proposals from all Faculty who would like to share a presentation of a new or innovative teaching method or idea that they have used in one or more of their courses. Email ofdi@bryant.edu with your ideas.
