Box View – The new Blackboard Inline Grading Tool

New Box View:

Blackboard's New Inline Grading Tool

Blackboard’s current service for inline grading, Crocodoc within the Assignments feature was discontinued on January 15, 2018. As a result, Blackboard is updated the inline grading feature to New Box View.

New Box View offers several improvements over Crocodoc, including improved rendering and expanded support of new file types. While there are a few differences between the two services, the new Box View will still provide a simple and convenient way to view and annotate student Assignment submissions. Existing student work that has been graded and annotated in Crocodoc has been migrated to the new Box View and will continue to be available to view.

Annotations in New Box View

Annotations in New Box View

  • Must assign grades before students can view annotations.

  • Can’t edit or remove existing Crocodoc annotations in New Box View as the annotations are “burned” into a PDF during migration.

  • Can add or edit New Box View annotations after a grade is assigned.
